If you’ve walked through our office or visited our website recently, you may have noticed something new: a few more friendly faces.
As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re excited to welcome new team members and celebrate some meaningful promotions within the firm. These moments reflect the trust our clients place in us, and the care and dedication our team brings to the work we do every day.
One thing we’re especially proud of is the way our team has grown with us. Many of our folks have been here for years, and most since the very beginning of their careers. You may find that someone who supported you in your onboarding years ago is now part of your Advisory team. Others are pursuing advanced education, stepping into new roles, or moving into leadership as we expand. That kind of consistency allows us to support our clients with intention, continuity, and heart.
We believe strong retention opens the door to thoughtful, strategic growth, and that’s what we’re celebrating today. Here are a few updates we’re thrilled to share:
- Johnny Deem, CPA, and Rebecca Hendricks, EA, have joined our tax team, bringing a wealth of experience in tax prep and tax planning. They are working alongside Mina Akita, CPA, Matthew Schulman, EA, and Avery Wade to prepare tax returns for our clients this year and to continue supporting our Advisors with our in-depth, year-round tax planning.
- Matthew has moved into a Senior Tax Planning Associate role and now holds his Enrolled Agent designation. He is beginning the CFP® coursework this year. Avery is well into his Enrolled Agent work, having completed level 1 of three last year.
- Our portfolio management team grew last year with the addition of Will Rathburn, who now works alongside Colton Tickle and Jade Brookreson. Together, they help ensure trades are handled with care and efficiency. You may occasionally hear from someone on our trading team if we need access to your accounts for trade execution. Colton is now a Senior Portfolio Manager, and Jade has been promoted to Portfolio Manager.
- On our Client Service team, Emma Turner, FPQP®, is now serving as a Senior Financial Planning Associate, helping to shape the future of how we deliver financial planning services.
- Ella Brotherton, FPQP®, has completed her CFP® coursework and is preparing to sit for the exam this spring. Molly Kaminski is also planning to sit for the exam later this year.
- Abby Hinson and Sam Knighton earned their FPQP® credentials at the end of 2025, joining Emma Turner, Garrison Weaver, Molly Kaminski, and Riley Jeffries as FPQP® designees. We’re proud that all our Client Service Associates hold this designation; it’s a reflection of their commitment to the work and the people we serve.
- Our senior Wealth Management Intern, Yasemin Bali, will be joining us full-time after her graduation from NC State this summer, stepping into a new Data Operations Associate role.
- Charlie Barstow and Anthony Rosen will also return this summer as Financial Planning Associates, having previously interned with us.
In a time when many firms are merging, being acquired, or closing their doors without a clear path forward, we’ve stayed committed to growing from within and remaining 100% employee-owned. That internal commitment continues, and we’re proud to welcome several new shareholders into our ownership group this year: Christian Polanco, CFP®; Garrick King, CFP®; Niamh Douglas, CFP®; Richelle Morats; and Meredith Keel. Each of them brings a strong sense of stewardship — for our clients, our team, and the future of Financial Symmetry.
As we look toward celebrating our 25th anniversary this summer, we’re filled with gratitude — for our team, for our clients, and for the continued opportunity to do meaningful work together.
And if you’re new to Financial Symmetry and wondering what it’s like to work with us, we’d love the chance to connect. We’re here to help you grow your wealth today in a way that supports a more enriched tomorrow.
