Ring$There are a number of different questions engaged couples need to ask themselves before tying the knot, and most of them can be answered in less time than it takes to say “I do”.

As recently engaged couples get caught up in the buzz of planning their upcoming wedding, questions such as “Who are we going to invite?” and “What color are the bridesmaid dresses going to be?” often rank much higher than “Who will be in charge of paying the bills?” and “Are we going to combine our bank accounts once we get married?”

While the latter questions may not seem as exciting, they are just as important.

Having a discussion about finances is a lot less fun than planning your wedding. In some cases there may be indifference toward the conversation, or it may be that your goals do not align. Having this discussion now, though, can save a lot of headaches down the road.
