Bring Your Kids to Work Day

Last month, Financial Symmetry had our “bring your kids to work day!” It was a fun day right before the 4th of July holiday, where we had about 20 kids in attendance of all ages. Working with hundreds of families ourselves, we know the value of sharing what Mommy and Daddy do at work with our little ones.

The Value of Hard Work

One of our goals is to create opportunities around activities the kids understand to discuss money on their level. We started the day with donuts and juice while watching an episode of Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaire’s Club on how to make a lemonade stand (you can watch the video here). After watching the video, the kids used this motivation to make signs for their lemonade stand and decided how much to charge for each cup they sold to the FSI employees.

This gave them the chance to learn a little bit about finance, while having some fun.  While the older kids were making their signs, the younger children had time to color, play, read, and explore the office. It was a fun filled day, and it was great to have all the FSI kids together!

A few even wanted their own starring role on the Financial Symmetry podcast, which you’ll notice in the video above. We had a memorable day of sharing the value of hard work and play with tomorrow’s generation.
